Trusting your therapist is important. In fact, the therapeutic relationship is the #1 factor for success in therapy.

You need someone safe to listen and help guide you toward your goals and the type of person you want to be.

My approach to counseling

I have a person-centered style which means I don't pretend I'm the expert: you are the expert on your own life. I'm here to listen, provide guidance and help you heal and make sense of things. I want to get to know you and your background, to understand the story that shaped you and made you. My approach is attachment focused, rooted in family of origin/system theories.

My role is to be an objective listener, provide calm and patience as I get to know you, and help you create goals for your mental and emotional health. I like to use creative interventions tailored to each client's unique needs.

When struggling with stress of life and mental health challenges, things can feel hopeless, or you can feel stuck.

Counseling can provide hope and encouragement that change and healing are possible.

I'm here to listen. I'm here to help.

Values and Integrity

My core values are authenticity, passion, purpose, empathy and compassion.

Diversity isn’t just a buzzword: I am in an interracial marriage to an immigrant and we have a mixed race son. I have friends and colleagues of different backgrounds. I've travelled to other countries and learned to appreciate different cultures.

Spirituality: My Christian faith gives me hope, encouragement and motivation to treat others with grace and non-judgement. We are all a work in progress trying our best. I have also worked with people from different faiths and backgrounds, spiritual but not religious, and atheist/agnostic. Spirituality for you may not mean a specific religion or practice, but you may want to appreciate something bigger than yourself such as nature, volunteering, or humanity.

More about me

Family: I enjoy spending time with my wife, son, and our stubborn but cute Staffy rescue dog Rosie. We love Friday night movie nights whether comic book, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings or action movies.

We love the cooler weather in Fall going to pumpkin farms and outdoor markets. And vacations to enjoy the sunshine and cool off in the pool and ocean.

My hobbies include woodworking, DIY & art projects, reading, cooking, travelling, spending self-care time by a creek, and watching movies/TV & sports.
